Portland

so.....i think i fell in love on Tuesday, with the city of portland. I went running with Cm around the waterfront and it was amazing!!!! we did the 3.7 mile loop and got to see many neat areas of the city!!!! the loop lead us onto 2 different bridges and we were running right along next to traffic-but on our own path.....Portland is a very walking/biking/exercising city-which is FANTASTIC because I LOVE TO get outside and run!!!! I have to say, my running has gotten better thanks to my trip out west..... :)

Scenery helps

So, as i continue on my trip in Oregon, I come to realize that the more beautiful an area is, the more prone you are to run in it. We ventured to Maltnomah Falls yesterday to climb the 1.5 mile trek to the top of the waterfall. It was more inspiring that anything I have run before. The falls were so beautiful and so I decided to run in spirts around the forest. Well, with the elevation and steep incline, my running only got me a few hundred yards each time, but it felt wonderful!!!!

Saturday-working out on little sleep

So.....last night, or should I say at 2:30 am I got woken up by 2 children scared of bad dreams. I am a nanny, so I should be used to this, but after the ordeal waking up at 7 am to work out was a challenge. I did work out for 30 minutes, elliptical and treadmill....every day is a process...

My first blog

Running, it has always been something that I aspire to do, think about, plan out, tell others about, and have sincere motivation to do, but there is one problem-when it comes down to actually sticking to it, doesn't work out too well. I have been a semi-motivated runner for years, and mostly I attribute that to my friends. Friends that are runners are extremely impotant in getting my feet to hit that pavement, even when I would rather be working, sleeping, or watching more reality tv. I have run one race, this past summer, and the feeling inside afterward was more amazing than any dessert ever consumed! :) So, even though it is winter and I feel that sometimes running in the frigid air makes my lungs hate themselves, I will prevail. Also, please let me also state that my life is constantly moving and I am always on the go, scheudling, working, or keeping myself utterly too consumed, but if I don't make this goal and change, what does that say about myself? I can do it, I can do it, I can do it. My next race is planned for May 29, 10k......
